Results: 2008 Rock ‘N Rib Festival

The judges have consumed.

Very happily, I may add.  At least those of us who know how to BullyLife!

And the results from the 2008 Rock ‘N Rib Festival are in.

A 2XL congratulations goes out to I Smell Smoke. This team took first place in both the grilling competition (held on Saturday) and the barbecue competition (held on Sunday). That’s quite an achievement in and of itself, but this team has now won a state championship in EVERY New England State!

A smaller, but still grand, shout goes out to the Flaming Hogs team, the Reserve Grand Champion in Grilling, and Lakeside Smokers, Reserve Grand Champion in Barbecue.

The top 5 teams from each day are listed below.

GRILLING:

  1. Flaming Hogs BBQ
  2. Feeding Friendz

BARBECUE:

The judges have consumed.

Very happily, I may add.  And it was worth the wait.

2008 Rock ‘N Rib Festival

One of the most important things to us – aside from living life in your own unique way – is food.

We love food.

Yeah, that’s right, we LOVE food.

Especially barbecue.

So much so that on Saturday June 21, 2008 we’ll be judges at the Rock N Rib Festivalaka the New Hampshire State Championships! The event is hosted by the Anheuser-Busch facility in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Official reports have it that 8 teams, from a variety of locales, are competing in this year’s event. Not only will the love be shown from in-state New Hampshire folk, but also from the fellow New England regions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Stretching out a little further, representation from Pennsylvania and Indiana falls into the fold. Bringing things to international scope, we have not only a Canadian team, but an Aussie competing! So, if you’re like us, right now you’re wondering exactly how many miles does someone cover when travelling from Sydney, Australia to Merrimack, New Hampshire?

Anyway, this has all the makings of a great event.

And greater eats.

Here is the list of teams as found on the event’s official web site:

T-Roy’s Barbecue – Amherst, NH – 2007 People’s Choice winner

Smoken Dudes Smokehouse – Croyden, PA – 2005 People’s Choice winner

Gator BBQ – Ontario, Canada

Big Moe’s M&M Ribs – Boston, MA – 2006 People’s Choice winner

Stickyfingers – Providence, RI

Aussom Aussie BBQ – Sydney, Australia

Rasta Joe’s BBQ – Plymouth, Indiana

Dave’s Famous Bar-B-Que – Manchester, NH

Internet rumors and word-of-mouth trails imply that as many 20 teams may be competing.
